Emotions at Mugello with MotoE

Enel X Way takes to the track on the historic Tuscan circuit.

In the last weekend of May, for the first time in history, the picturesque Mugello circuit transformed into the stage for two thrilling rounds of the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup championship. Race 1 on Saturday, May 28th saw the triumph of Swiss rider Dominique Aegerter from the Dynavolt Intact GP team, who had previously won Race 2 in Le Mans. He outpaced Italian rider Matteo Ferrari from the Felo Gresini team, who was the winner of Race 2 on the following day. Behind the first champion in the history of the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup, Aegerter, was Spanish rider Marc Alcoba from the Openbank Aspar Team, who was regulated by Aegerter thanks to the fastest lap times.

With six races already completed, the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup now takes a small and well-deserved late spring break. The championship will return to the Motul TT in Assen from June 24th to 26th for the fourth round of the season.

On the Track with Enel X Way

As the Official Smart Charging Partner of the fourth edition of the single-brand world championship dedicated to electric motorcycles, Enel X Way, already a partner of Formula E and the Extreme E championship, is responsible for supplying e-bike chargers. Our presence in this prestigious event represents another valuable opportunity to develop and test solutions for everyday e-mobility.

Charging System: JuiceRoll Race Edition

In particular, starting from the 2021 season, we employ a specially developed charging infrastructure for MotoE, known as JuiceRoll Race Edition. It's a highly innovative charger that employs an internal storage system and two connected units, enabling the two-wheeled machine to be recharged in about 40 minutes. The semi-mobile unit (SMU), intended for the paddock area, charges with direct current (DC) up to 50 kW and alternating current (AC) up to 22 kW, absorbing a limited power of only 4-5 kW. The same SMU powers the mobile charger unit (MU) with 10 kW, equipped with a 6 kWh storage system, intended for use in the pit lane and on the starting grid. It provides a final charge of 7 minutes to the motorcycle.

MotoE Calendar

The next opportunity to witness these electric two-wheeled machines will be at the Dutch Motorcycle Grand Prix on June 25th and 26th, on a circuit known as a true "motorcycle university" due to its difficulty and very high average speeds. Other events will see MotoE motorcycles in action until the weekend of September 3rd and 4th, when the season will come to an end with the grand finale of the San Marino Grand Prix at the Marco Simoncelli circuit. This also marks the track usage of the Italian Energica Ego Corsa machines. Starting in 2023, Ducati will take over as the sole manufacturer of the race motorcycles.
