Enel X Way Giro-E, the New Maglia Blu Unveiled

In Milan, the presentation of the new Giro-E leader jersey sponsored by Enel X Way

Enel X Way is the title sponsor of the fifth edition of the Giro-E, the Giro d’Italia dedicated to pedal assisted bicycles. From May 6 to 28, the Giro-E will feature 20 stages in which cyclists will vie for the winner’s Maglia Blu. Throughout Italy, from the south to the north, the race will cover more than 1,100 km to discover some of the most striking scenery in our country, finishing with the grand finale in Rome. At the RCS headquarters, on April 4, the Maglia Blu was unveiled, the blue jersey which will be worn by the race leader during each stage. It was an opportunity to see the new colors, meet the protagonists and get a taste of the upcoming competition that will kick off in just under a month.

What is the Giro-E?

The Giro-E is an e-bike experience occurring at the same time and on the same roads as the Giro d’Italia. The use of e-bikes means that even amateurs can tackle the historic big climbs of world cycling. The bicycles used are pedal assisted bikes with 250W motors and a maximum speed of 25 km/h.

“For us, the Giro-E is an opportunity to create a connection to the territory through electric mobility. The goal should be the ability to get around in the most sustainable way possible in the future.”

How does the Giro-E take place?

Every section is covered in a compact group, except for certain sections where the participants will undergo various regularity trials and special trials with their own teams. During the stage finishes the captains are the true protagonists involved in an “exhibition” sprint trial. The winner will cross the finish line, the very same one that will later see the arrival of the Giro d’Italia stage.

The success of the past edition

Last year’s incredible edition saw the participation of 1,500 cyclists, among them were managers, celebrities, influencers, invited journalists, clients of the various team sponsors, captains and many former sports champions. It covered 1,026 km and included 24,780 meters of positive elevation gain. A feat within everyone’s reach thanks to pedal assisted bicycles.

What are the Giro-E values?

The combination of sports and care for the environment are the successful values of the Giro-E, which aims to raise more people’s awareness about sustainable mobility and all the issues related to environmental sustainability. It will be done in part thanks to the “Sustainability Village” that will be present in all the Giro-E stage departure cities, in which people can discover all the advantages and opportunities of electric mobility. It presents a unique opportunity to discover some of the most striking landscapes in our country through eco-friendly and electric mobility.
